The Pharmaceutical Supply Chain

Synopsis

An introduction of the pharmaceutical supply chain and what happens to the product during the import and export process. The presentation would include the different stages and sub-contractors involved and how pharmaceutical distribution capabilities are different depending on carrier/GHA capability. The risk factors for each stage will be outlined and the part temperature management packaging plays in the pharma supply chain for mitigating these risks. Will also include the importance of route risk assessments to address other underlying risks that might present to address temperature, security and theft. Inclusion of carrier pharmaceutical distribution services and what this entails.

I deal with pharmaceutical shippers a lot from the point of freight forwarding and it’s surprising how little is known about the export/import supply chain. I feel more knowledge in this area will contribute to overall public health in ensuring medicinal product maintains clinical efficacy.
